Thinking of Skipping a Home Inspection? Don't.

Updated: Sep 30, 2022

When you buy a house, the amount of decisions you have to make can feel never ending. And don’t us wrong, there are certainly a lot of important factors to consider as you make such a large purchase. But one decision that should be a no-brainer is the choice to get a home inspection.

Buying a house is not a time to cut corners on something as important as the safety of your future home. Here are a few more reasons why you should never skip the home inspection when buying a house in Florida.

Gain the upper hand in negotiations

At the end of a home inspection, you’ll receive a written report about the state of the property. While there is no pass/fail option when completing a home inspection, you’ll have a thorough understanding of the current condition of the home, and some of those items on the report may be worth negotiating with the seller. For example, if the property needs a new roof, you and your realtor may be able to discuss a lower purchase price as a way to cover the cost of a new roof.

Learn the ins and outs of the new property

Another important reason to hire a certified master inspector is to gain insight into the history and flaws of the property. Your inspector may point out potential problem areas or safety concerns, which can be useful in planning out future maintenance expenses.

Moreover, getting a home inspection can help buyers take some of the emotion out of the purchase and give them the perspective they need to make a well-rounded and fully informed decision.

Home inspections are a critical part of the purchase process and should not be skipped, even if you think foregoing it would be seen as an advantage in the eyes of the seller. The last thing that you want to happen after closing on a house is to find serious health and safety concerns or get stuck with a several thousand dollar appliance repair bill that possibly could have been prevented.
